Treatment step-by-step

(1) Consultation
Before the treatment, you'll have a consultation with our highly trained aesthetic therapist to discuss your skin concerns, medical history, and treatment goals. This helps determine whether BBL is suitable for you and what areas should be treated.

(2) BEFORE TREATMENT
Before undergoing a BBL (BroadBand Light) treatment, there are several important guidelines that patients should follow to ensure optimal results and minimize the risk of side effects. Please limit sun exposure 2 weeks prior to treatment. These products can increase skin sensitivity and the risk of irritation. Please avoid blood thinners and photosensitizing medications prior to treatment. Please discuss with our therapist any queries you may have.

(3) DURING TREATMENT
On the day of the treatment, your skin will be thoroughly cleansed to remove any makeup, oils, or skincare products. You'll be given protective eyewear or shields to wear during the procedure to protect your eyes from the intense light. A clear gel will be applied to the treatment area to help the BBL device glide smoothly over your skin and to enhance the light's effectiveness. The aesthetic therapist will use the BBL handpiece to deliver pulses of light to the targeted areas of your skin. The light penetrates the skin and is absorbed by the pigments or blood vessels in the skin, addressing various skin concerns. The BBL device has an integrated cooling system that cools the skin's surface during treatment, minimizing discomfort and protecting the skin from overheating. You may feel a sensation similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin or a mild warmth during the light pulses. The treatment is generally well-tolerated, but your provider can adjust the settings if you experience discomfort.

(4) AFTER TREATMENT
After the treatment, your skin may appear red or flushed, similar to a mild sunburn. This usually subsides within a few hours to a day. You may also notice darkening of pigmented spots as the skin begins to heal. It is crucial to avoid direct sun exposure and to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) diligently after the treatment, as your skin will be more sensitive to UV light. Keeping your skin moisturized is important after BBL treatments to support the healing process and maintain the results. Switch to a gentle skincare routine: use a mild, non-abrasive cleanser to wash your face. Avoid scrubbing your skin and pat it dry with a soft towel. Avoid Exfoliation: Do not use exfoliating products (like scrubs, retinoids, or acids) for at least one week, or as advised by your provider. Your skin needs time to heal, and exfoliants can be too harsh during this period. Apply Soothing Creams: If your skin feels warm or slightly irritated, you can use products containing aloe vera, hyaluronic acid, or other soothing ingredients. Your provider may also recommend a specific post-treatment cream. Please refrain from the use of saunas and stream rooms for at least 48 hours pre and post treatment.
